Easy Chocolate Sauce…

I love how easily music and food can bring me a flood of memories from my childhood. Growing up there was always a mason jar of this easy chocolate sauce in our fridge. We used it for chocolate milk, hot chocolate and on ice cream. It was something from my childhood that I had completely forgotten about until I had children of my own.  What I know about this very simple recipe is that this is also the chocolate syrup that my Mom also grew up with having in her home.

Easy Chocolate Sauce

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup cocoa

1 cup hot water

Combine in a heavy pot and boil for 5 minutes. Stir often.

Store in fridge in a glass jar.

That’s it. That’s all.

When you make chocolate milk or chocolate milk, just use as much as you like to taste as chocolately as you like. I just love it on ice cream.

There have been a few years in my life where I have had my life organized enough to give this out as Christmas gifts.  Maybe next year will be that year? Ha. Who am I kidding...Christmas Sucks for Moms.

  1. I’m going to try this for the Heritage Day Dinner .This year for dessert we are serving ice cream with chocolate sauce and strawberries . ( for 300!)

  2. This recipe saved the day! I went to make hot chocolate today and was out. I remembered reading this recipe and set to work making chocolate sauce and avoided catastrophe!
