Longest Day of Play…

Friday has been named “The Longest Day of Play” !

Side Note: Honestly, I was wondering if it was called this because I no longer have daycare and my husband was out of town at a conference.  But, it’s not. It’s because it is the longest day of the year.

ParticipACTION is encouraging families to take advantage of the extra hours, turn off the t.v, and get out and play at the park, school ground and local rec centre.

I have been thinking about things that my family can do.  My kids are not big into sports, Whirlwind is five and Baby Bot is 2, so we try to play tee ball, soccer and catch but usually it ends up in tears.

For my kids the spray park is more fun than that monkey at the zoo that had a piece of “boom boom’  hanging out of its bottom.

I am also going to plan a family hike and picnic in our local Community Forest. My kids have acquired an addiction to hummus, so it will be a healthy picnic, too.

If you are finding it a bit tricky to think of things to do with your family;  ParticipACTION has put together some ideas with 100 Ways to Play

ParticipACTION has also teamed up with Winners to bring you the Longest Day of Play Facebook Contest. You just have to share your favourite way to play and you win a $50 Winners gift card. On June 21st, a gift card will be give away every hour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

What are you going to do for The Longest Day of Play?
