Ladies Lunch…#Wendys #NewSaladCollection

Most of my friends don’t really “get” or know anything about my blogging life, except my friend Laura. The reason she “gets” it or knows anything about my blogging life is because she is also a blogger on Real Momma. Recently, we met up for lunch at Wendy’s!

Obviously we gabbed about blogging, pinterest, SEO, contests, Twitter, Facebook, cpm’s and so on. But, we also talked about “other” stuff, like …. Okay, I am lying, we pretty much only talk about blog stuff.  I mean look at her in this picture, she’s got her phone in her hand in case any sort of Social Media crisis occurs during lunch!

Our salads were so filling! Obviously Wendy’s knows what they are doing -they were the FIRST restaurant to bring the quick service salad bar to customers over 30 years ago.   Wendy’s is tapping into popular culinary trends to add exciting flavour! We had some of their NEW salads – BBQ Chicken Ranch Chicken Salad and the Asian Cashew Chicken Salad, but they also have Taco Supremo Salad, too.

They’ve added tons of funky ingredients like cashews and edamame, that you wouldn’t expect to find in a salad at a quick service restaurant.  With these 3 new salads and freshened up dressings, Wendy’s is totally proving that salad innovation is never our of style, plus they are 50% lower in fat, 29% lower in sodium and 61% lower in saturated fat.  All Wendy’s salads are prepared fresh in the restaurants every day and each is topped with warm chicken or chili, right when you order it!

They also slice their tomatoes, cucumbers and red peppers by hand in the restaurant.  Wendy’s also uses 100% premium white chicken breast meat that is grilled on site, they have a salad spinner in every Wendy’s Kitchen because they wash and hand chop the 9 different types of greens. PLUS, you could get a half order too.

But I got a full order. And I was totally full. But, my BBQ Chicken Ranch Salad- with fire roasted corn, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon and honey BBQ sauce had me eating the whole thing. It was like a savoury backyard BBQ in a bowl! The dressing was super amazing, made with real buttermilk, parmesan cheese, ancho chili peppers, honey and brown sugar. You know I don’t endorse things I don’t like. I LOVED my salad.  I even tasted some of Laura’s too.  She got the Asian Cashew Chicken Salad, it was spicy with fire roasted edamame, fresh red peppers, cucumbers, a lettuce blend of 11 kinds of greens and a light Asian Chili Vinaigrette dressing for only 370 calories!

So even though its super hard for us to meet during the day because of our husbands work hours, we both have daughters in school and three year old boys at home, it was worth it.  And you should do it too. Make the effort. Call an old friend and meet up over salad at Wendy’s.
